Statement on Modern Day Slavery and Human Trafficking
Pepelwerk makes every attempt to prevent modern day slavery or human trafficking in its business. In fact, we hope that through our actions and services that we can help drastically reduce such acts against humanity. The Company is committed to giving every person authority over their human right to represent themselves in the work they choose to do. This statement is made pursuant to common sense, human decency, responsible economics and conscious capitalism.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND BUSINESS
The company is a software as a solution technology business headquartered in the United States and has, or will have, operating entities that represent the company in other countries. We provide a work marketplace connecting our users to individuals or other services that help them get work and get work done.
OUR POLICIES ON SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
We have a zero-tolerance policy on slavery and human trafficking.
We define modern day slavery to include any act in which another person is making a profit, revenue, income or exchange of money and limiting the wage/earning potential from another person’s labor, skills or time without their consent, willingness and agreement (verbal and written). We define human trafficking as the illegal act of confining, entrapping and abusing another human being into acts of servitude involuntarily and without free access to compensation for their labor, skills or time.
Our code of conduct is a public document and accessible to our business partners, suppliers, employees, contractors, employers, educators and all other users or any persons that represent or use pepelwerk services in any capacity. As such we have the expectation that all such parties adhere to a code of conduct.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
- Human Rights
Treat people with respect and dignity, encourage diversity of thoughts and diverse opinions, promote equal opportunity for all, and help create an inclusive and ethical culture.
- Human Trafficking
Do not engage in the use of forced, bonded (including debt bondage) or indentured labor, involuntary prison labor, slavery, wage labor, child labor, forced migrant labor or trafficking of persons. This includes transporting, harboring, recruiting, transferring, or receiving vulnerable persons by means of false representation, manipulation, malice, threat, force, coercion, abduction, or fraud for exploitation or personal gain.
- Confidential/Proprietary Information
Take proper care to protect all sensitive information, including confidential, proprietary, and personal information. Information should not be used for any purposes beyond the scope of the business arrangement with our company, without prior authorization. Do not ask for an individual’s personal information unless it is necessary to conduct business.
Provide equal economic opportunity to others solely based on their abilities and without regard to race (the color of their skin), ethnicity (their genetic place of origin), religion (system of beliefs and faith), sexual orientation (their sexual preferences), national origin (the place they were born), age (how old they are, within legal constraints), military veteran status (if they have served or not served a countries branch of protective services), ancestry (who they are related to), gender or gender identification, marital status, family structure, genetic information, or mental or physical disability, so long as the essential functions of the job can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation, safely and without harm to others, themselves or the business.
- Child Labor
Do not ask or hire a person under the minimum legal age for employment where the work is performed to conduct work on your behalf.
- Safety, & Health
Comply with applicable safety and health laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Provide for the health, safety, and welfare of others who may be affected by your activities.
Do not use verbal of physical acts on another person with the intent to harm emotionally, physically, or psychological. Take precautions to remove yourself voluntarily from situations that you perceive are harassing in nature.
We will continually assess our contribution to reducing modern day slavery and human trafficking in all of our business endeavors and amongst those that use, view or are entertained by our products and services.
We ask anyone aware of behavior or acts, conduct on behalf or while using pepelwerk products and services, that are not aligned with our position on modern day slavery and human trafficking or our code of conduct, report such issues to firstname.lastname@example.org
